Where is Silver Lake Resort Located?

Nestled in the base of Carson Mountain, the Silver Lake Resort is not just a popular “fishing retreat” but also a favorite campground for nature lovers, RV travelers, “glampers,” and families who want to enjoy a wide array of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, and swimming.

The mountain resort-cum-fishing retreat is located on Highway 158, about halfway around the June Lake Loop, just north of the lake along Rush Creek in the Inyo National Park.

Cabins

Silver Lake Resort has 17 propane-heated cabin rentals that come with limited housekeeping service. Each one has a fully equipped kitchen with pots, dishes, coffee pot, utensils, silverware, four-burner stove, oven-broiler, toaster, and fridge.

The resort provides all kitchen, bath, and bed linens and changes them depending on the length of your stay. They also provide towels that are changed every other day.

As a cabin guest, you can use the picnic and barbecue area and laundry room facilities.

All the cabins have no Internet connection, TV, or phones to help you reconnect with nature and disconnect from digital distractions during your stay.

The cabin rates range between $250 and $800 per night and can accommodate between 4-12 guests. The fee already includes access to the amenities; however, boats, kayaks, and horseback riding fees are not included.

(Note: The resort prohibits smoking in the cabins, keeping pets in the cabin facilities, and sleeping in tents, campers, and RVs in cabin areas.)

RV Parks and Amenities

The RV park features restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, shaded barbeque area, and even horseshoe pits for those who want some outdoor fun.

Each RV site comes with water and 30A power outlets, plus we have sewage facilities where you can offload your grey and black water.

The RV site costs $46 per night, $295 per week, and $845 per month.

General Store and Café

The mountain resort maintains a general store where you can buy fresh produce, dairy products, sundries, beer and wine, ice, clothes, camping and fishing supplies, souvenirs, and other knick-knacks.

The store is open between 7 am and 7 pm daily.

Adjacent to the store is the Silver Lake Café, a quaint restaurant known for its homey meals and hearty portions like the three-egg omelet and the house specialty burger–a whopping ⅓ pound beef patty nestled in fresh buns and topped with fresh lettuce, tomato, and red onion before drizzled with our top-secret sauce.

The café is open between 7 am and 2 pm daily.

Outdoor Activities

While we offer a wide range of outdoor activities like horseback riding, hiking, and camping, most guests are fishing hobbyists who want to take advantage of the June Lake Loop and its nearby streams known for its healthy population of trout, which indicates a high water quality.

(Note: Trout species are sensitive to pollution and degraded water quality, so their population is a good indicator of the health of freshwater systems.)

Some of the trout species you can find in the natural lake include brown, rainbow, brook, Lahontan cutthroat, and native tui chubs.

Each fishing motorboat can accommodate up to five people and comes with proper equipment for your safety and convenience. We also have kayaks if you fancy a full-body workout or you want access to a wider variety of areas while fishing.

If you bring your own boat, we have a launch ramp you can use.

  • Full day rent, between 7 am and 7 pm — $60 or $65 with seats
  • Half-day rent, between 7 am and 1 pm — $45 or $50 with seats
  • Kayak rent – $25 in the first hour and $10 for each succeeding hour

(Note: Only guests 18 years and above can rent our boats and kayaks.)
