HOW DOES IT WORK AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Adventure In Camping provides the largest and newest fleet of rental trailers available. Each trailer is equipped with battery and propane power, full of fresh water, and clean. All Adventure In Camping trailers are equipped with solar panels that charge the batteries during the day. These are the largest solar panels and charging system available in the industry. This also helps the environment by cutting down on the number of batteries used, as well as electricity used to charge them.  A professional driver will deliver your trailer and you will receive the service you expect while you are on vacation.

In addition to our standard trailers, Adventure In Camping offers extra amenities you may add to your vacation including BBQ’s, camping chairs, camping lounge chairs, firewood, TV/DVD packages, and tables. Let us make your packing that much easier!  Adventure In Camping delivers quality camping at an affordable price. Isn’t it time to return to nature and experience the great outdoors? It’s your vacation; we will make every effort to insure it is memorable.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN MY TRAILER RENTAL?

Each trailer comes fully equipped with a basic set of dishes, eating, and cooking utensils to accommodate the number of people the trailer sleeps. There is also a basic set of pots and pans, and a stovetop coffee pot. We provide one complimentary roll of paper towels, toilet paper, bar of bath soap, and dish soap. Our trailer rentals do not include linens or bath towels.

We furnish an entry mat and a small outdoor rug for the outside doorstep. We also supply a 50′ water hose for refilling the trailer’s fresh water holding tank, and a jug & funnel in case the water tap is too far from the trailer. Some helpful items to bring are: foil, Ziploc bags, plastic containers, cleaning wipes, bug spray, trash bags, and a cooler (for drink storage).

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

We suggest pillows, bath towels, and sleeping bags (or, sheets & blankets), foil, Ziploc bags, plastic containers, cleaning wipes, bug spray, trash bags, and a cooler (for extra storage). We do offer additional items to make your packing easier. You can choose extra items on your reservation request form or contact our customer service for assistance.

IS THERE A COFFEE POT?

Yes, a stove top percolator. This coffee pot is similar to your household coffee pot and uses the same ground coffee you use at home. If you’re going into a park with electrical hook-ups, you’re welcome to bring a coffee maker.

HOW IS MY TRAILER RENTAL CONFIRMED?

Once your trailer reservation is made, it will be confirmed via email and payment will be arranged. Acceptable forms of payment include Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. Generally, 50% of your stay is due 48 hours after you make your reservation to guarantee your stay. The balance of your stay is due 30 days prior to your arrival. If you make a reservation and your arrival date is within 30 days, your total will be due at the time of booking.

CAN I RESERVE MY CAMPSITE?

Some campgrounds and most private RV parks will accept advance reservations. You will generally make your own campground reservations. We have listed the phone numbers or web address, if available, on our campgrounds page. Occasionally, you may find the campground/campsite you desire is not available. It is important to note many of the campgrounds only allow a percentage of the campsites on the reservation program and leave others open for walk up or “first come first served” camping.

Your campsite must safely fit the trailer you have rented.  The trailer lengths are posted on each trailer page.  We recommend also considering the grade of the campsite.  A steep grade can cause the trailer steps to be high off the ground making it hard to enter the trailer.  We are unable to make additional steps at the campsite.  There are no refunds or credits if we are not able to safely park and set up the trailer in your chosen campsite.

If you are having trouble deciding where to camp, please call our reservation office for assistance. We may be able to offer alternative campground suggestions close to an area you are trying to camp that is not on a reservation program or full. Seldom have we found a situation where a camper is unable to find a space somewhere in our service area. It might not be your first choice but there is generally something available.

DOES ADVENTURE IN CAMPING OWN THE CAMPGROUNDS?

No. Adventure In Camping doesn’t own the campgrounds. We just rent trailers that we park in the campground of your choice, within each of our service areas. Each campground has its own rules and regulations, and you and Adventure In Camping are obligated to abide those rules just like any other camper. Specifically, check in and checkout times, reservations, and costs.

HOW DO I RESERVE THE CAMPSITE?

To make reservations at privately owned campgrounds, call the campground directly, or go through a reservation service. The number for Forest Service campgrounds is 877-444-6777. Our Campgrounds web page contains all the numbers and websites we have for each campground.

CAN YOU PRE-PARK THE TRAILER IN MY CAMPSITE?

Generally this is a campground by campground option. We normally cannot pre-park your trailer unless you have made a prepaid reservation for a campsite or if family or friends have secured a site for you. If you have done this, please contact us with the site number and we will try to set up your trailer ahead of your arrival.

CAN OUR FRIENDS CALL WITH OUR SITE NUMBER?

Absolutely. If you are camping in a big group, it is best to have one person direct traffic. Before we can park the trailer, the campsite needs to be paid for at least the first night. If you plan to have your friends hold your site, plan on having them pay for you.

WE ARE PART OF A GROUP. CAN YOU PARK US ALL TOGETHER?

You and the campground determine where we park the trailer. Remember that larger trailers need more space. There are some campgrounds offering larger spaces as well as group campgrounds. Please refer to the Campgrounds Page for more information. Just let the delivery person know exactly where to place the trailer. If you need assistance with your large group, please contact our office and we will gladly assist you.

WHAT TIME WILL MY TRAILER BE DELIVERED TO MY CAMPSITE?

All Adventure In Camping trailers are parked daily between 12:00 noon and 5:00 pm daily. Checkout times are between 8:00 am and 10:00 am daily. On some occasions we can park trailers earlier than our normal delivery times. Late checkout times may be requested and are based on availability. You will be assigned a parking and check out time based upon availability shortly before your arrival and emailed the information. These times are strictly enforced (see Late Checkout Fees). If you have special needs, please advise our reservation staff. Due to safety concerns, trailers cannot be parked during hours of darkness.

WHAT IF WE’RE NOT ARRIVING UNTIL MIDNIGHT?

If you plan on a late arrival, you must have a specific campsite reservation ahead of time or have friends or family reserve a campsite for you. When you make your site reservation, they will assign you a site number. Please give us this site number when you make your trailer reservation. We will park your trailer in that site ahead of your arrival. We will leave the trailer unlocked with the keys inside. Once you arrive, during our office hours, call us with any questions you have or to schedule a service representative to stop by and make sure you are enjoying your stay and answer any questions you have about the trailer.

CAN YOU DELIVER THE TRAILER FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

We deliver trailers between 12:00 noon and 5:00 pm, as the morning hours are spent picking up the trailers of departing guests. On rare occasions if your trailer is ready and you have selected your campsite, we may be able to park your trailer prior to your pre-scheduled parking time.

ONCE I CALL IN WITH MY CAMPSITE INFORMATION, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THE TRAILER TO BE DELIVERED?

You will receive a pre-scheduled time for your trailer delivery when you make your reservation. You should try to arrive at least one hour ahead of your scheduled delivery time to choose your site. Once you have chosen your site, call Adventure In Camping (anytime after 7:30am) and relay which site you’ve chosen. On the day of delivery, once you call, we will have a good idea of the time you can expect your trailer.

WHAT’S THE LATEST TIME YOU CAN DELIVER MY TRAILER?

During our busiest days, we are usually finished delivering all trailers by 5:00 -6:00 pm. Please understand no trailers can be delivered after dark.

CAN I CAMP RIGHT ON THE LAKE?

YES! Please visit Crowley Lake Fish Camp at www.crowleylakefishcamp.com. They offer camping lakeside, and we are pleased to serve this area! Ask about special packages including campsite and boat rental! Other lakeside camping includes Gull Lake Campground in the June Lake Loop. This is a US Forest Service Campground. More information on both campgrounds can be found on our campgrounds page.

CAN WE PUT A TENT NEXT TO THE TRAILER?

If it’s OK with the campground, it’s OK with us.

IS THERE ROOM FOR EXTRA CARS OR MY BOAT?

You decide. You get to pick a campsite that suits your needs. Remember to estimate the length of the trailer and your vehicle and or boat when asked how long of a site you need. Most campgrounds have restrictions on the number of extra vehicles you can park within the campsite. It is a good idea to check with the campground or RV park as well.

CAN WE HAVE A CAMPFIRE?

Generally, in campsites that have fire rings you may have a campfire. In unusually dry or windy times, local agencies or the Forest Service may prohibit campfires altogether. Some campgrounds require you to obtain a fire permit to have a campfire. This is a free service but does require you to fill out some information and keep it on file with the local agencies. Check with your campground host during your stay for specific information.

CAN I MOVE THE TRAILER TO ANOTHER CAMPSITE OR CAMPGROUND DURING MY STAY?

No. Once Adventure In Camping has parked your trailer, you may not move it yourself for any reason. The campsite you chose at the beginning of your stay is generally considered the site you will stay for the duration of your stay. If during your stay you decide you want to move, please contact our office and schedule a move. Please understand there is a fee for moving the trailer. Under no conditions are you allowed to move the trailer yourself. Moving the trailer even within the same site is a violation of our insurance policy and is strictly forbidden.

***PLEASE REMEMBER GUESTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO MOVE TRAILERS IN ANY WAY, FOR ANY REASON AND ARE NOT ALLOWED TO REMOVE ANY OF THE ATTACHED EQUIPMENT SUCH AS PROPANE TANKS, GENERATOR, ETC.  DOING SO WILL CAUSE YOU TO FORFEIT YOUR REFUNDABLE SECURITY DEPOSIT AT THE MINIMUM.***

HOW WILL I KNOW HOW TO OPERATE THE TRAILER?

Each piece of equipment in the trailer will be fully explained to you upon delivery to the campground by our service staff if you are present. We also will email you a trailer booklet which explains in detail all the trailer operations and equipment and has local contact phone numbers for our service staff. We have service staff available daily from 8am-4pm and after hours for emergencies only. No prior camping experience is required; however, respect for conservation will be helpful during your trip.

WHAT DO WE DO IF WE HAVE PROBLEMS DURING OUR VISIT?

Please call us if you require assistance during your stay 760-935-4890 x2.  We have service staff available daily from 8am-4pm.

MY ALARMS WENT OFF IN MY TRAILER, WHAT SHOULD I DO?

The trailer is equipped with a few different alarms: smoke detector, propane detector and carbon monoxide detector.  The CO2 and Propane detectors are very sensitive and can be set off by things not CO2 or propane.  First off, if your alarm goes off, it does have a button on it to push to shut off the alarm.  We recommend opening the trailer door for ventilation.  On the alarm itself it will flash red/green in a series or beep so many times for either a detection or low voltage.  Some examples for cause of the alarms to go off other than the obvious is cleaning products, aerosols, perfumes, bug spray, sunscreen, poor ventilation or exhaust from the outside coming back into the trailer or low batteries on the trailer.  We recommend having a window cracked to help with ventilation.

IS THE TRAILER HOOKED UP TO WATER AND ELECTRICITY?

This is based on your campground and actual campsite. If you camp in an RV park with water and power, we will gladly hook up the trailer to their system. If you are “dry camping” without standard electric or water hook ups, the trailer is self-contained and carries approximately 40 gallons of fresh water. The batteries operate your lights and some electric appliances, such as the heater fan.

The batteries are charged during the day with large solar panels. This should eliminate the need to exchange your batteries during your stay. The stove, oven, refrigerator, and heater operate on propane gas. The propane tanks on the trailer are generally sufficient for a 10+ day stay. The microwave and outlets will not work without electrical hook ups or a generator.

WHAT IF WE RUN OUT OF WATER, HOW DO WE GET MORE?

Your trailer is delivered with the necessary equipment to refill your water tank. During the check-in walk through, the driver will show you how to fill the trailer’s fresh water supply, either with blue fresh water jugs or fresh water hose connected to a nearby water spigot.

HOW MUCH FRESH WATER HOSE WILL I HAVE?

Your trailer is delivered with 50’ of fresh water hose. If you want to be able to refill your water frequently using a fresh water spigot, keep this in mind when selecting your campsite. Additional hose may be requested but may not be available.

DOES THE TRAILER HAVE HEAT?

Yes, it has central heat that runs on battery power and propane. Please be aware that the heater, although it uses propane for the heat, requires a lot of battery power, so conserving is important. Plan to turn the heater down while you are away from the trailer. It won’t take long to heat the trailer once you return. Remember, you do have solar panels on the trailer charging the batteries but conserving does help.

WILL THE MICROWAVE WORK?

The microwave and wall outlets will only work if you are hooked up to an electrical source . They won’t operate on battery power. Adventure In Camping does offer generators for rent if you want to have a microwave, just be sure to let the reservationist know your needs in advance to make sure you get one that can operate your microwave.

DOES THE TRAILER COME WITH A GENERATOR?

Ultimate model trailers do come with a generator; however, economy and standard rentals do not. We do offer generator rentals. If you wish to operate standard household appliances during your vacation and don’t plan to stay in a full hook-up RV park, you will need a generator. We do rent generators so please ask your Adventure In Camping reservationist for specific information regarding your generator needs. You may bring your own generator; however, you will need to bring the correct adapter to plug the trailer cord into your generator.

I WANT TO STAY CONNECTED WHILE I’M CAMPING. IS THIS POSSIBLE?

We understand that both you and your kids may want to stay connected and use electronics such as cell phones, iPads, iTouch, laptops, Gameboys, etc. while you are camping. Although each of our trailers is equipped with a large solar charging system, this system is designed to charge the batteries on the trailer only. Charging your devices will draw power from these batteries, basically charging a battery with a battery. This will likely result in depleted batteries. If you choose to use the batteries to charge your devices, It is important you only charge these devices during the day and use the proper converter. If staying connected and using devices is important, we recommend adding a generator to your rental.

ARE PETS ALLOWED?

Pets are generally welcomed; however, the campground you choose may have some restrictions. There is a $50 pet fee added to the reservation. We ask that your pet not be left unattended inside the trailer. You will be responsible for any damage caused by your pet. A barking dog left outside the trailer may cause issues, but use your best judgment.

ARE THERE BEARS, ANTS, MICE, CHIPMUNKS, SKUNKS, DEER, POSSUM, RABBITS, COYOTES, FLIES, MOSQUITOES, BEES, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF WILDLIFE?

YES! This is the great outdoors, and your Adventure In Camping trailer adds just a touch of civilization. As with any camping adventure, all of the good things come with a rough edge. Our trailers are not replacements for hotel rooms, condos, or other typical lodgings. As our trailers are located in the middle of the animal’s world that you have come to enjoy, you may encounter some bugs and critters. Wildlife may even come to your door. Come prepared and bring bug spray, and keep your food covered and in the refrigerator or cabinets within the trailer or in the bear boxes provided by the campground.

While the wildlife may visit, they probably won’t stay. They don’t seem to like humans, just our food and garbage. By the way, each Adventure In Camping trailer is thoroughly cleaned and de-crittered prior to your rental. Any critters you may run across and have found their way into the trailer are part of the campground and are after any food you may have left unattended. Remember to use the bear boxes located in each campsite.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER TURNS BAD?

There is something magical about sitting under the awning or in the trailer and watching the rain or snow fall on your campsite. Rain or snow is common and can happen any month of the year in the Sierras; although, it is rare during summer months. Should you decide to check-out early, please call us and let us know. We are unable to give refunds for unused nights for any reason.

IS THERE A REFUND IF WE DECIDE TO LEAVE EARLY?

Unfortunately, no. We are unable to refund any unused nights for any reason.

CAN I HAVE A LATE CHECK OUT?

That depends if we need the trailer for the next guest. The next guest may be scheduled for a noon delivery on the day you check out. We need to get the trailer back to our service yard for complete servicing before we deliver it to the next guest. Late check out times are based on availability. Please call our service staff (at least 24 hours in advance of your check out day) to see if a late check out is available. Our check out times are strictly enforced. You will be charged a late check out fee, up to $100, depending on how long the driver has to wait.

CAN WE EXTEND OUR STAY ONCE WE ARRIVE?

Yes, as long as the trailer is available. Please call (760) 935-4890 to check availability.

CAN I RENT FOR A FEW MONTHS AND LIVE IN THE TRAILER?

Adventure In Camping does have certain restrictions for extended stays. In addition, most public campgrounds limit stays to 14 consecutive days. Some private RV parks and campgrounds do offer extended stay rates. Please call (760) 935-4890 for pricing and additional information.

I WANT TO RENT A TRAILER AND TOW IT MYSELF. DO YOU RENT TRAILERS LIKE THIS?

No. Currently, we do not allow our trailers to be “Self-Pulled.”
